Clonlara School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, was founded 40 years ago, 1967, as an innovative campus school by Pat and Jim Montgomery. The fully accredited school serves students from age 5 through high school graduation. 1979 the school extended it’s services to home educating families, creating the Home Based Education Program. Since then, over 4,200 students have earned Clonlara’s high school diploma, and over 30,000 more have benefited from enrollment during their school age years.

This program always has been open for families from all over the world, serving families in more than 30 countries worldwide. As has proven during the last decade, it’s philosophy is especially fitting to European educational needs and home educating families in Europe, whose numbers are growing incessantly. Clonlara has always encouraged and striven for individualisation and flexibility. So efforts have been made to adapt it to the specific cultural needs.

In 2002, Xavier Ala started providing Clonlara’s services fully translated in Spanish and fitted to the Spanish needs with Clonlara Escuela, ever growing since.

Since 2004, parts of the program have been available in German: Clonlara Schule, for families from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Southern Tyrol, since 2005 a German school advisor has been working for the families. Fast growing, Clonlara Schule now offers fully translated material and full service in German.
